National Day of Prayer Challenge

Eternal God,

We pray for our 40-Day Prayer Challenge, beginning today, March 27, 2022, and ending on May 5, 2022, the designated National Day of Prayer. We are Your people. With humility and gratitude, we express our reliance on You, and trust in Your guidance in all situations and circumstances, great or small. You are the God who Provides, and we are patient in waiting for doors to be closed that need to be closed and doors to be opened that need to be opened. We pray for all whose intention it is to concentrate and pray for our Entire Nation, its territories, and outlying possessions subject to the jurisdiction of the United States of America. From our Everyday Citizens, Governing Bodies, and Our Allies, to Climate Change and our Environment we lift our country up to You, our Sovereign God.

The National Day of Prayer belongs to all Americans. It is a day that transcends differences, bringing together citizens from all backgrounds. We are thankful for the many gifts Our Creator has bestowed upon us as a Nation – “One Nation, Under God, Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for All.” We ask for forgiveness for turning a blind eye to Your Command in the Book of John, chapter 13 verse 34 to “Love One Another, as I have Loved You” and to try and make a go of it on our own resulting in lack of vision to “see each other through Your eyes.” We look to You alone for the future of our country. By Your Providence, as found in the Book of Esther, “we are here for such a time as this.” Thank You for this blessing. We pray for each person, each ethnicity, family, workplace, community, city and state to be inspired and empowered to choose unconditional love above all else. Generous God; Tear down the walls of division and the attitudes that harm. Awaken our spirits to the transforming power of Your love. All Glory and Honor is Yours, now and forever, Amen

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 40 – May 5, 2022 – Praying for Personal Change and Commitment – Anon

O Holy One, We Pray, From Our Hearts……

That You, God, Reveal The Almighty to the people of the United States of America as The Founder, Owner, and Ruler of all nations. We ask The Sovereign God to fill our prayers with Gods’ will and desires for our country during these unstable and angry times. We pray for an act of God’s mercy to turn the heart of our Nation back to The Almighty. Asking God to abundantly pour out The Holy Spirit on every man, woman and child in every home, city, and state in America.

We ask The Sovereign God to open the doors to wisdom, knowledge, integrity, and paths of justice that flow from practicing the fear of God. We pray for national and spiritual leaders to be bold enough to humble themselves before God and lead others in repentance. We pray for the fear of God and His righteousness to override the fear of people or popularity in our lives.

We pray for those in leadership positions to see their need for God’s guidance and feel the weight of the responsibility to lead those in their care. We ask God to give them the humility to seek God’s wisdom and not rely on their own abilities. We pray for the churches all over the Nation to cry out to God for help. We ask God to purify our hearts and spiritually prepare us for Gods’ unfolding plan here in America in the years to come. We pray for Humility: “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to their own interests, but also to the interests of others.” – Philippians 4-2:3 ESV

We pray for God to blanket the people of our Nation with humility, compassion, patience, and selflessness. We ask God to enable us to see and meet the needs of others. “For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.” – Isaiah 44:3 ESV We pray for the power, fruit, and gifts of the Holy Spirit to be poured out on us and our children. We ask God to meet the needs of our people by satisfying us with MORE of God!

We ask God, (in Gods’ mercy), to humble, convict, and bring to repentance any leader who refuses to acknowledge God so that they may be saved and worship Jesus Christ alone. We pray that God would give our nations’ leaders an honor, reverence, and fear of the Lord – to the joy and relief of the people. We pray for national and local leaders, who refuse to honor and submit to the Lord, to be removed and replaced by someone who will honor God and do Gods’ will.  We ask God to raise up leaders who will follow the heart of God.

We pray for those who have been believing lies for far too long, to have godly reason return to them. We ask God to bring us truth so that we may be set free from deception to the praise and honor of God. We pray that our Nation would become focused on listening for God’s voice rather than on expressing our options.  Pray that we, as a people, return to the authority and truth of the Scriptures.

We pray that God’s people will be self-controlled and have clear minds focused on Jesus. We pray that our love for one another would shine out as a light overpowering the darkness. We pray for order and direction among our government leaders and the ability to work together in integrity, purity, generosity, and compassion for the good of others.

We ask God to give them a love for what is good and a hatred for what is evil.  We ask God to give life to the places where the church has only offered dry religion. We ask for the breath of the Holy Spirit to revive our hearts. We pray for a biblical perspective of authority and the benefits God provides when it comes to honoring the authority in place. We pray for blessing and protection to cover our Nation today and every day! In Jesus name, Amen and Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 39 – May 4, 2022 – Praying to Trust Our God

We live in an ever-changing world – one that, at times, just makes no sense. From natural disasters to terrorist attacks, hate crimes and unmentionable acts of violence, we get the in-depth report from every news outlet in the United States, and, we watch these special reports, trying to find some kind of reason for the craziness, some perfect explanation for why these things happen and who is responsible and how can we make a difference. And, while we will never get all the answers on this side of eternity, we know that as Christians, we are called to trust God, share His love, and pray. Philippians 4:6 NIV says, “Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” With this passage in mind, let us pray…

Dear God,

As we face these uncertain times in our nation and the world, we ask you, Lord, to dwell among us. We are comforted by the knowledge that You alone are our Savior and Lord, and the ultimate Redeemer of our lives. We trust our nation to Your loving care. Send Your Spirit to touch the hearts of our nation’s leaders. Give them the wisdom to know what is right, and the courage to do it. Give us Your light and Your truth to guide us in our ways so that we may seek Your will in our lives and impact the world around us. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen. A reading from “Dayspring”

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 38 – May 3, 2022 – Praying for an End to Racism

Readings from the US Conference of Catholic Bishops: Opening and Closing Prayers

Opening…..

Wake Me Up Lord

Wake me up Lord, so that the evil of racism finds no home within me. Keep watch over my heart Lord, and remove from me any barriers to your grace, that may oppress and offend my brothers and sisters. Fill my spirit Lord, so that I may give services of justice and peace. Clear my mind Lord, and use it for your glory. And finally, remind us Lord that you said, “blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” Amen.

Closing…..

God of Heaven and Earth, you created the one human family and endowed each person with great dignity. Aid us, we pray, in overcoming the sin of racism. Grant us your grace in eliminating this blight from our hearts, our communities, our social and civil institutions.

Fill our hearts with love for you and our neighbor so that we may work with you in healing our land from racial injustice. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. We have prayed and now, with changed hearts, let us move our feet to action. Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 37 – May 2, 2022 – A Prayer for Elections and Voting

O Holy One,

Thank you for the opportunity to have a voice in the way our nation’s government runs. I praise You for the vote that I have. During this time of debate, diffusion, and decision-making, please have Your sovereign hand over this country. Please keep our country healthy during this season. Give us the peace that passes understanding about the vote, and the outcome. Your Word says that You change the times and the seasons, so You are in control of this phase in our nation’s history. I ask for the season to not be volatile, and that our nation would see You in it.

Thank you for being the source of all wisdom, and for being willing to impart that wisdom to Your people. In times of national decision-making please grant the citizens of this country wisdom to vote for the best candidate with the correct agenda. Grant us the discernment to detect any falsehoods, or unbiblical policy proposals. Show us Your will in this election. Do not let our wisdom be clouded by earthly considerations, misunderstandings, or misguided desires to shape the future to our will rather than Your own. The Book of James tells us that we can know Your wisdom because it is pure, peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial, and sincere. Help us to recognize that wisdom and exercise it in our vote. Amen. From a reading in Crossroads.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 36 – May 1, 2022 – Praying for Local Government

Mighty and Merciful God,

We thank God for the peace and security we do enjoy today and for the stability that we so often take for granted. Any reading of history–including that of the early church–will make us aware that our participatory democracy is a recent development and those of us who live in democracies have benefited greatly from the influence of biblical ideas in the formation of western governments. Yet too often as Christians we have opted out of the political world wanting to “separate ourselves from the world” and have failed to be the salt and light the world needs.

We pray for local authorities – our mayors, city leaders, commissioners, business leaders, all in local authority – to execute justice well and would govern with wisdom for the common good, or the “welfare of the city” (Jeremiah 29:7), and not for personal gain. Their concern must be for the well-being of all people. Political issues are not usually black and white, cut, and dried. Pray that they would have the foresight to make wise decisions for all future generations. Pray for open minds and listening ears.

May we be faithful, informed, and thoughtful when praying. Grant, we pray, Almighty God, a clear and united voice to all Your sons and daughters gathered in Your Church in this decisive time in the history of our nation, so that, with every trial withstood and every danger overcome—for the sake of our children, our grandchildren, and all who come after us—this great land will always be “one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” All Glory and Honor is Yours, now and forever, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 35 – April 30, 2022 – Praying for Our Nations Allies

Sovereign God,

We pray for those countries, peoples, and groups around the globe who unite with and support, through common cause and purpose, the United States of America. We seek You as the Guiding Force in each, and every effort. All Glory and Honor is Yours, now and forever. Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 34 – April 29, 2022 – Praying for Our Nations Foreign Service

Most High God,

We pray earnestly for our Ambassadors also known as diplomats, representing our great nation on the front lines around the world. As they work highly sensitive areas of politics, trade, military involvement, and cultural relationships, we pray their hearts and minds seek You first in all situations and circumstances regarding their duties internationally.

We pray for their discernment in decision making, their clear thinking to seek and know Your guidance as they are the eyes and ears of the US government. Ambassadors also assist travelers from their home country, explain foreign policy and evacuate refugees from hostile environments. We pray for Your guidance, Your strength, and Your protection in each of their efforts. All Glory and Honor is Yours, now and forever, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 33 – April 28, 2022 – Praying for the Judicial Branch of Our Government and The Supreme Court

Oh Holy One,

We pray for the Judicial System and the Supreme Court of the United States. God, we pray that You raise up judges after Your own heart who will stand against injustice and defend and protect the Constitution of the United States. Divinely enable our Supreme Court Justices to set a standard of justice and balance for the judicial office, not only on a national level, but for every adjudicator in our nation. God, in the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Sovereign God,

You alone, are the supreme Judge and Ruler over all; so, we pray for every Supreme Court Justice in our judiciary. We pray for their salvation and their ultimate submission to You so they can understand the true principles of justice, mercy, and grace. Give them wise hearts and discerning minds that will interpret truth and uphold law according to the principles in Your Word. May they represent You with dignity and integrity with full accountability to You and the ones they serve. Let them judge tenderly yet firmly for the needs and rights of those who cannot speak for themselves.

Help each judge to see everyone as You do, as people of worth and value. Give them an extra sense of fairness that judges every individual uniquely. Help them to visualize both the need for discipline and restoration as they look at each case presented to them. Protect them and their families from harm, especially when others disagree with their verdicts. Deliver them from the temptation to bow at the feet of comfort or convenience, seeking to please people instead of You.

Keep them balanced in their priorities, loving God, family, and others. As they rule on the laws that keep Your people and our country safe, remind them that their efforts are not in vain and that each, and every decision matters in the scope of eternity.  Anon. All Glory and Honor is Yours, now and forever, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 32 – April 27, 2022 – Praying for the Legislative Branch of Our Government and Congress

Almighty God,

You are the Just Judge and the Righteous Lawgiver. We pray now, for our Legislative Branch of Government – The United States Congress. We intercede for the 435 members of the House of Representatives and the 100 Senators who together enact legislation and declare war. Give wisdom and divinely inspired judgment to each of them, so they may represent us properly, legislate effectively, and govern with all humility.

May they be ethical and fair in all their dealings, live in awe and reverence of God, and enact legislation that honors God and ensures the continuance of our great nation. Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 31 – April 26, 2022 – Prayers for the Executive Branch of Our Government and The Presidency

Prayers for the Executive Branch

God, we come to You in prayer for the Executive Branch of our national government.  First of all, we make supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving for all who are in high positions. We pray for our President, Vice-President, and each of the leaders overseeing the 15 departments in The Cabinet. We hold up in prayer the men and women who are in positions of authority. Amen.

Praying for The Presidency of the United States of America

Loving God,

No matter who is leading our country as President, we offer our prayers on behalf of this position in our government. Draw the President into a strong relationship with You. Thank You for this one who has pledged their life in service to our country. Give the President a true servant spirit, one who is after Your own heart. Anoint this President with the Holy Spirit’s power, to feel Your strength in every situation. Let integrity and honesty guide every decision, as You are sought first for divine guidance. Turn the President’s heart from distractions and temptations that could bring harm rather than help to life, family, and the people served. Make our President a leader in every respect, morally and spiritually. Enlighten with discernment, wisdom, and fairness. When tempted to embrace arrogant power rather than humble service, give our President an undivided heart to stand firm, knowing that You will fight all battles presented.

May our President begin each day with You and Your Word, with gratitude and praise for the honor You have given as President of the United States of America. Throughout each day may Your Spirit be a reminder of the purpose of this Presidency and of Your love. When night comes, calm this heart with the peace that passes all understanding as a pledge of purpose to keep trusting and obeying You, no matter what the cost.

As You surround our President with Godly counselors, give accountability to each and the people served, but first and foremost to You. Bless the President with joy when righteousness and goodness prevail. But give a heart that weeps for the injustices and any surrounding sorrow.

Guard our President against unfair criticism and unfounded accusations. When a stumble occurs, give courage to admit a mistake. Strengthen character, guard against hurtful compromise, and give a listening ear for the people served.

In danger, surround our president and our country with Your angel protection. From the beginning of this administration until time is complete, may our President serve You and our country as a true leader with an undying love, an unswerving faith, and an unending hope in the only One who can make our country great.  Anon. In Jesus Name, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 30 – April 25, 2022 – Praying for Social Media

Almighty God,

Strengthen and direct, we pray, the will of all whose desire it is to write what many read in social media, and to share videos of which many will listen. May we be bold to confront evil and injustice: understanding and compassionate of human weakness; rejecting alike the half-truth which deceives, and the slanted word which corrupts. May the power, which is ours, for good or ill, always be used with honesty and courage, with respect and integrity, so that when all here has been written, said, and done, we may, unashamed, meet You face to face. Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 29 – April 24, 2022 – Praying for the News Media

God, who spoke the world into being and communicates with us still today,

We give You thanks for writers, producers, broadcasters, and journalists, and all who work in the News media. We thank You for their creative skills and technical abilities, and their persistence in seeking after truth. We ask that they may have wisdom, integrity, insight, and judgement in their work.
May they be a voice for the powerless, a challenge to the powerful; bringers of knowledge and clarity to an uncertain and confused world. Help us, who read, watch, listen and contribute to the News media, to play our part by being wise and discerning, so that truth and beauty will be the hallmarks of our media.

We offer these prayers in the Name of the One who brought the Good News, Declared Truth, and, Gave ALL for a world in need. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, Jesus! Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 28 – April 23, 2022 – Prayers for the Removal of Terrorism Around the Globe

“Arise, O Lord, in Your anger; Rise up against the rage of our enemies. Awake, my God, decree justice.“

O righteous God… bring an end to the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure.” For, Lord, the wicked gather themselves together against the souls of the righteous and condemn the innocent blood.

Mighty God…cut them off in their own wickedness. O Lord, “give us help from trouble; the help of humanity is useless. Through God we shall do valiantly, it is The Almighty Who shall tread down our enemies!” Amen.

Pope Frances – A prayer from 2016

“We come to You (God) today to ask You to keep in peace the world and its people, to keep far away from it the devastating wave of terrorism, to restore friendship and instill in the hearts of your creatures the gift of trust and of readiness to forgive.” “Touch the hearts of terrorists so that they may recognize the evil of their actions and may turn to the way of peace and goodness, of respect for the life and for the dignity of every human being, regardless of religion, origin, wealth or poverty.”

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 27 – April 22, 2022 – Praying for the Prison Population

Great God in Heaven,

You alone determine the future and know that which is not yet, so help these men and women to see that You have a purpose for where they are now and know that You can use anyone for Your glory and for Your purposes, including them. We know that You have commissioned us to make disciples of all nations, and that includes those who are incarcerated.

Creator God, may You use these Christians behind bars to bring others into Your dominion by pointing others to Jesus Christ and trusting Him. They realize that You have allowed them to suffer the consequences for their own actions, and also realize You may use them to reach others behind bars where we cannot, so please loving God, make divine appointments for these Christians in prison, and allow them to cross paths with those whose heart You have prepared for the Word. Help them to see that You have pardoned them, without parole, and love them unconditionally.

God, allow them to fix their eyes on You, and the hope for a future we can’t even imagine. Hope is found in Christ, in Whose precious name we pray, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 26 – April 21, 2022 – Praying for the Business Community

We praise You as the Creator God of all there is!

Thank You for strong Business Leaders, people in large and small business, who are our representatives in the marketplace, may they be salt and light and witnesses to Your great power and love.

May our Business Leaders, owners, and workplaces be blessed and follow the direction of the path You have set for us. May we listen to Your will and show leadership, and love to all we are in contact with. Thank You for the privilege of being involved in business. May You bless us and our businesses with prosperity in all things in life, work, family, business and especially our relationship with You. We ask these things in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 25 – April 20, 2022 – Praying for Artists and Musicians

 God, Our Creator,

We thank You for giving joy and delight to Your Church through those who are skilled in music and the arts.  Lead them to develop more and more the gifts that You have given them, to dedicate their talents to Your worship, and to serve Your people in humility.  Make us grateful for their efforts and move us to encourage and support them.  Use them to bring echoes and reflections of Your beauty to the ears and eyes of many, that having experienced Your beauty, they may also seek Your goodness and truth, to the glory of Christ our Lord. All Glory and Honor is Yours, now and forever, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 24 – April 19, 2022 – Praying for Our Nations’ Agriculture and Farming

A Prayer for Those Who Harvest the Resources of the Earth

Loving God,

In the resources of the earth, You have given us riches for all humanity. We pray for all who are involved in harvesting those resources, in agriculture and horticulture, forestry, mining and fisheries. Their work is often dangerous and, for some, beset with uncertainty through weather, pest, and disease. We pray for those whose livelihoods have been ruined by disease, by falling prices, and by the shortcomings of disaster management. Help us to enable them to reflect on their future and chart their course with confidence. May they be set free from bitterness and anger. May they know that the community they have sought to serve stands alongside them in their need. In Jesus Name, Amen.

A Prayer for Food Producers

We thank You, Creator of all that is good, for the rich variety of our food, from many parts of the world. We thank You for the enjoyment and pleasure we find in sharing food in celebration and fellowship. We pray for those who grow, prepare, and distribute the food we eat. As they try to achieve the impossible, grant to them a sense of their part in the poise and balance of all life. May they be vigilant for our safety, and for the quality of what they produce. We remember especially those who take part in the global trade in foodstuffs, linking producers with consumers the world over. We hold before You those who buy, often in ignorance of the hardships facing those who produce. We hold before You those who produce, often receiving scant reward for their labor and their investment in land and equipment. We give You thanks for all who have sought to remind us of our complicity in world poverty, and who have shown us the steps we can take to act justly. Bless their work of peacemaking through justice. In Jesus Name, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 23 – April 18, 2022 – Praying for Our National Parks and Preservation of Lands – Stewards of the Earth

HEAVENLY CREATOR,

Giver of life and source of our freedom, Yours is “the earth in its fullness; the world and those who dwell in it.” We know that it is from our hand that we have received all we have and are and will be.

Gracious and Loving God,

We understand that You call us to be the stewards of Your creations, the caretakers of all You have entrusted to us.

Help us always to use these gifts wisely and teach us to share them generously. We have created National spaces for all to enjoy recreational parks; we have created areas of preservation to maintain the life sources You created, but we have not upheld the stewardship You entrusted us with. Help us to renew our commitment to be good caretakers of all You have entrusted to us. May our faithful stewardship bear witness to the love of Christ in our lives. We pray this in Jesus name, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 22 – April 17, 2022 – Prayers for the Environment and Climate Change

Eternal God,

whose Spirit moved over the face of the deep bringing forth light and life; by that same Spirit, renew your creation, and restore your image in your people.

Turn us from careless tenants to faithful stewards, that your threefold blessing of clean air, pure water and rich earth may be the inheritance of everything that has the breath of life and one generation may proclaim to another the wonder of your works; through Jesus Christ, your living Word, in whom the fullness of your glory is revealed. Amen.

Rt Revd Libby Lane, Bishop of Stockport – Prayer for Climate Change

You spoke into the silence

Light suffusing darkness.

You spoke into the silence

Blowing clean, life giving air into the space

You spoke into the silence

Warmth and cold infusing the air

You spoke into the silence

Solid ground formed out of gushing water.

You spoke voice carrying over the sound

People, plants and animals came to life.

You spoke each creation balanced against the next so life would be abundant and sustainable.

You saw everything you had made and declared it to be very good.

You spoke choosing to give us humans stewardship over all that You had made.

We speak and act

Darkness of pollution limits light levels and damages the air we breathe.

We speak and act

Ground poisoned, burnt, stripped bare.

We speak and act

Spoiling, limiting, destroying quality of life and life itself.

We speak and act

Without hearing Your call over the noise of the world to be good stewards.

You speak.

You create.

You want us to be stewards of Your creation.

We come to You to re-learn how to care for the earth and people you have made.

Katrina Rowland, April 2017.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 21 – April 16, 2022 – Praying for Travelers, to-from-within, Our Nation

Almighty and Merciful God,

Grant that we are welcoming and accommodating to all who visit our Nation and that we are able to understand and be understood by all who travel here. You have commissioned Your Angels to guide, protect, and be our companions for all traveling to, from, and within our nation. Clothe us with their invisible protection; to keep us all from danger. We pray for good weather, for those traveling with children, and for those traveling who need assistance.

Whatever our mode of travel, we pray there are no unexpected mechanical issues, accidents, or emergencies. We pray for caution and less distraction as we travel. We pray You will release Your angels around every mode of transportation utilized. We pray for all air travelers, for the pilot, that he or she be alert, have sharp eyes, and steady hands during their flights. We pray for our flight attendants that they will be friendly, alert, and adequately prepared for our trip. We also pray for our fellow passengers, that everyone will be in good spirits and in good health. We pray that everyone will be able to make it where they need to go safely.

We trust that in all circumstances, You, will keep us safe! All Glory and Honor is Yours, now and forever, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 20 – April 15, 2022 – Praying for Medical Personnel

Praying for teachers in schools of medicine and nursing: that their love for life and healing might inspire their students; We pray to the Lord. Praying for medical researchers, and all scientists who study medicine: that the holy work they do may ever be guided by God; that inspired by the beauty of human life they might seek to be co-workers with God in fulfillment of Gods’ own divine plan; that they may be driven by a desire to heal and protect every human person; We pray to the Lord: Praying for all new doctors: for the grace of faith, courage, and love of life; We pray to the Lord:

Eternal God,

You are above all, see all, know all, and are capable of healing all. When Jesus walked the earth, He healed by the touch of His hand and the sound of His voice. We pray to feel Your healing hand upon us and hear Your voice of peace and tranquility boom over the loud pain that throbs through our minds and bodies, truly trusting the outcome of our lives in Your hands, for its when our plans for healing do not look the same as Yours that we become frustrated, and faith threatens to pull out of our hearts. Doubt can seep in through the cracks in unexpected circumstances. In those moments, strengthen us to remember You. Your ways are not our ways, because only You can claim true love for us. Only You know what is perfect and just in the daily happenings of our lives. Our time here is so fleeting, but our belief in You, Jesus, sets us apart and ensures us life everlasting. Pain free and full of peace. In Jesus Name, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 19 – April 14, 2022 – Prayer for Firefighters

God,

We thank You for the brave men and women who have chosen to be Firefighters. We ask that You give them the strength and courage it takes to face and overcome such a terrifying force. Lord, we ask that You give them knowledge and guidance in situations that may seem too difficult to handle. When they are faced with such incredibly dangerous situations that could cause injury or death, please protect them that they may return home safely to their families at the end of their shift. May they know that they are greatly loved and appreciated for their willingness to protect our lives and property from such a deadly force.

Lord, we also ask that, You, would grant their families peace of mind with the assurance that You are watching over their loved ones as they perform their duties during each and every shift. It is in Jesus name that we pray, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 18 – April 13, 2022 – Prayer for Police

Sovereign God,

We thank You for our police and law enforcement officers who have all taken an oath to protect and serve their communities.

We ask that You watch over them, that You give them strength and courage as they are often called into very dangerous situations, that You would grant them wisdom and discernment to make the split-second decisions they often must make, and that You would guard their hearts and their minds when they are treated with hatred and disrespect. We thank You for their bravery and their courage and we ask that You, would protect them and bring them home safely to their families at the end of their day. It is in Jesus name that we pray, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 17 – April 12, 2022 – Prayer for First Responders

Sovereign God,

We thank You for all first responders, those who are professional and those who are not. We thank You for those who have chosen as a profession, Fire Service, Law Enforcement or Emergency Medical Service and have committed themselves to the safety, rescue and protection of others every day.

We also thank You for the neighbor, friend or relative, the passer by, or, a complete stranger, who decided in an instant to respond to an emergency situation. We ask that you watch over and protect them all as they respond to the urgent needs of others. It is in Jesus name that we pray, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 16 – April 11, 2022 – Praying for our Veterans

God in Heaven and on Earth,

We are praying for the brave Veterans of our Nation – men, women and their families – who have served in the Armed Forces and in many situations, fought and given their lives for our country in the name of Duty, Freedom, and Protection for all people in these United States of America. The experiences forever change their lives in ways we can only imagine. We are thankful for Your protection of them as they return home to rebuild their lives.

As believers we owe our veterans a deep debt. It is because of their sacrifice we are free to worship God. You and I go to church, worship, have Bibles, and serve God without fear of being put into prison or put to death. It is, in large part, due to their sacrifice, we have these freedoms. So, thank You for each veteran. We pray, today, for them because they are one of the biggest reasons, we, are free to worship as we please.

O God, we give You praise for these people who have allowed us to serve and worship You in freedom. We do not take for granted that there are millions of Christians around the world afraid of prison or even death because of what they believe. Our veterans are a significant reason why we do not, fear, and we thank You for each one of them. We pray You come quickly. In Jesus Name, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 14 – April 9, 2022 – Students – Young and Old

God of Power and Might,

In Your wisdom and love, You surround us with the mysteries of the universe, from the cells in our bodies, to the Cosmos! Whether young or old, we search and seek ALL that is You.

We pray You will make Your students outstanding leaders and imitators of Your character, secure in their faith. Our students deal with tests often, not just with their schoolwork, but in their spiritual lives. Help them to be bold as lions, in the sense that their faith won’t be shaken by those who attack or question it. Give them knowledge of Your Word and time to memorize and meditate often on its biblical truths. Teach them to respect others’ beliefs without compromising their own.

Whether they face fear or danger or simply need comfort, may they always turn to You, the One Who always hears their cries, and the One who will never leave them or forsake them. Send Your Spirit upon each student and fill them with Your wisdom and blessings. Grant that they may devote themselves to their studies and draw ever closer to You, the source of all knowledge. Teach us to discern, to love unconditionally, to see, with “eyes wide open,” the amazing world You have given us. All Glory and Honor is Yours. Now and Forever, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 13 – April 8, 2022 – Teachers

Almighty God,

We come to You, today and give thanks for all our teachers. Thank You for the way in which they give of themselves each day in the classroom, serving and instructing the next generation of this land. We thank You, for them all now. Sovereign God, please fill their hearts with courage now, by Your Mighty Spirit. Fill them with Your strength, so they may rise to every challenge and not grow weary. Fill them with Your wisdom, so that they may be able to make good judgment when guiding and helping others. Fill them with Your peace, so that when stress and anxiety comes, it would not overwhelm them. Fill them with Your joy, so that the passion they have for their subject may become and infectious passion that spreads. We thank You for the moments when we ourselves are teachers of those around us…….

We ask all this in the wonderful name of Jesus, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 12 – April 7, 2022 – Minds of Science

Most High God,

We thank You for the gifts of those who set aside their days and nights to explore, in awe of You, all the sciences in this world and beyond: researchers, biologists, virologists, immunologists, researchers from across the scientific ecosystem—economists, physicists, engineers, statisticians, psychologists, sociologists, and more ……..

In 2020, the Coronavirus Pandemic brought together the best efforts of our scientific community. Through God’s grace, their hearts and minds were touched, their hands were blessed, and their vision was precise as they were able to see scientifically what was needed to persevere in this effort. You inspired each mind of science to access knowledge and understanding of Your creation to complete the work before them. Working together, literally, day and night, to produce a vaccine that is safe for, and accepted by, millions of people around the world in a precise timeline.

Thank You for all those in the Body of Christ who serve in the Profession of the Sciences. We thank You for each scientist, laboratory technician, doctor, nurse, researcher, therapist, pharmacist, medical assistant, paramedic, professor – the list goes on – who, with Your, discernment, understanding, knowledge, and courage, explore whatever is of question.

What a blessing they are to all of us! By Your wisdom, You, have strategically equipped and anointed men and women with expertise in the world of science. You are the ruler of All creation. Your angels praise and glorify You. Your mighty ones who carry out Your plans, listen for each of Your commands. Most Holy One, all that You created will praise You and everything in Your Heavenly Dominion! Thank You for all that we are! In Your Holy and Precious Name, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 11 – April 6, 2022 – Our Prayer For Unity

Loving God,

We know we’re stronger together as we encourage one another. Yet, it’s in those very times of tension and struggle that we need, more than ever, to come together as one. Unified and strong. We pray for unity when Life Feels Uncertain: We know that You are with us and You fight for Your people. We believe that it’s not by might, nor by power, but by Your Spirit, that You make a difference in our world. We pray for Wisdom to set aside differences: We ask for Your help to set aside our differences and look to the greater cause, the cause of Christ. We ask that You would help us to truly live a life of love. We know that this is only possible through the power of Your Spirit, so we pray for Your Spirit to move across our land in fresh ways. Turn Your people back to You. Draw others to come to know You. Thank You that You are always with us to give us great purpose and hope. We pray for the Love we need to work together: We ask for Your help in being a light in every place You’ve given us to walk. Give us care and wisdom as we live and work with one another. Help us to look to another’s needs before our own, and to always be ready to serve those around us by the power of Your love within us. Even in every dark and broken place, for the times we feel like we’re barely making it through, give us Your joy Holy One, Your grace, and the powerful presence of Your peace. We pray for all those in authority, for every leader of our nation, that You would give them Your wisdom and discernment as they lead. We pray that their hearts would be directed first to You, that they would recognize where their true help and strength come from. We ask that You guard their coming and going, that You would be their refuge and their peace. We pray that You would surround every leader with wise counsel, that they would be humble and kind, patient and loving through their actions and words. We pray that their faith in You would be unwavering, strong, resolute, and firm. We pray for all nations to look unto You for Wisdom, Guidance and the Courage to walk in peace.

John 17:23 “I in them and you in me–so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” Make us one in You and one in the world that all may know the Love of God. May it be so in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 10 – April 5, 2022 – Religious Leaders and Churches

Sovereign God,

You call all of creation to be in relationship with You and with one another. We ask for Your blessings and guidance for the leaders of all religions. Bless every church, synagogue, mosque and temple with faithful leaders. You have given them great responsibility. May they lead Your people to peace and community. May we all be one in You. In Jesus name and for Gods’ Glory, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 9 – April 4, 2022 – Elderly and Frail

 Loving God,

We thank You for the thrill of life and all the mercies that You give to each of us day by day. As we advance in years, our bodies begin to lose their strength – our fingers lose their dexterity and our knees begin to tremble and the time comes all too fast, when we are not able to care for ourselves as we would like to; but have to rely on help from other people to do the basic things of life – like eating and drinking – bathing and generally caring for our homes and ourselves.

 Generous God,

We bring before You all the elderly and infirm… not only those that we know, but all who are facing this stage of their life. Draw those that have never placed their trust in You into a saving relationship with Jesus and give those that are of the household of faith Your peace that passes understanding in their heart – as they fulfill Your purpose for their lives, in whatever condition or situation they find themselves. We pray for those that find it difficult to come to terms with other people caring for them, knowing that Your grace is sufficient – and as they grow older, I pray that in Your love and mercy You will draw each one into closer fellowship with Yourself. This we pray in Jesus name, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 8 – April 3, 2022 – Praying for the Terminally Ill

God of Glory,

We pray You bring calmness to those who are terminally ill, reminding them of Your love as they go through this challenging time. Strengthen their faith in You, removing anything that will bring fear and uncertainty to their hearts and remind them, that they are not alone and that You are holding them in the palm of your hand. Dear God, thank You for Your compassion and unconditional love. In the midst of fear, give Your peace, the peace that surpasses all understanding and strengthen them to focus on You alone. Let Your resurrection power rest in every cell and function of their body. Usher a peaceful transition letting them know You are ever present. God’s Mercy and God’s Grace, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 7 – April 2, 2022 – Immigrants and Refugees

As we reflect upon the difficult journey that the Holy Family faced as refugees in Egypt, help us to remember the suffering of all migrant families.

We see and hear of the devastation the refugees from Ukraine are suffering and we dedicate this prayer to them that they may know that we hear their cry for help.

We pray that all migrants may be reunited with their loved ones.  Open our hearts that we may provide hospitality for all who come in search of refuge.  Give us courage to welcome every stranger as Christ in our midst. Reach out our hands in support, that the desperate may find new hope, lives torn apart be restored, ears no longer deaf to the cry for. Eyes to see a moment for grace instead of threat, hands to reach out for peace and  justice in the lands where they seek a safe haven. Move the hearts of ALL Your people to show welcome, cause wars to cease and bring justice to the nations that no on will need to flee again.

Jesus, we know your heart is with the refugee, You were born into a family of refugees, fleeing their homeland. Their cry still resounds “will you let me in?” We pray in the name of Jesus who fled persecution at his birth and at his triumph over death,  Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 6 – April 1, 2022 – The Homeless

Generous God,

Hear our prayer today for all women and men, boys and girls who are homeless this day. For those sleeping under bridges, make-shift tent communities, on park benches, in doorways or bus stations, whether they are safe or not. For those who can only find shelter for the night but must wander in the daytime. For families broken because they could not afford to pay the rent. For those who have no relatives or friends who can take them in. For those who have no place to keep possessions that remind them of who they are. For those who are afraid and hopeless. For those who have been betrayed by our social safety net. For all these people, we pray that you will provide shelter, security, and hope. We pray for those of us with warm houses and comfortable beds that we are not lulled into complacency and forgetfulness.

Jesus, help us to see your face in the eyes of every homeless person we meet. Empower us to work for justice and peace through words and deeds, and through the political means we have. Help us to be more mindful of the homeless and needy around us. May we remember, with gratitude, the gifts You have provided us, and to share what we have with others. Jesus, You, had nowhere to lay Your head; please come to the aid of men, women, and children who find themselves without shelter even in the bitterest of weather. Help us to be Your hands in this world so that we can serve our brothers and sisters with compassion and tenderness.

Deuteronomy 15:11 “For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore, I command you; “You shall open wide your hand to your brother and sister, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.”

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 5 – March 31, 2022 – The Unnoticed and Invisible in Our Society

Loving God, We are praying today for those individuals who seem to get left behind, go unnoticed, or are alienated by division of social class, race, skin color, religious affiliation, ethnic origin, educational status, living standards, political opinions, appearance, people with a disability, minorities, LGBTQ+people, drug users, the elderly and the young. We pray that the process in which individuals are blocked from (or denied full access to) various rights, opportunities and resources that are normally available to members of a different group, and which are fundamental to social integration and observance of human rights within that particular group e.g., housing, employment, healthcare, civic engagement, democratic participation, and due process, can be changed and eventually eliminated.

We pray that we become more aware of those around us, to seek their participation and listen to their Visions and their Voices. We pray the social exclusion that affects individuals or communities preventing them from participating fully in the economic, social, and political life of the society in which we live becomes an awareness and priority throughout our nation. Prayers that no one is left behind or excluded from their abilities to enjoy, “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In Jesus Name and For God’s Glory, Amen

Gracious God, We thank You for caring for Your children who are in so much pain and are so fearful of others that they isolate themselves, those people who take great pains to move through life unnoticed, who panic when someone does engage them in conversation. May we see them with Your love, Lord, and may You speak through us and our actions so they may feel Your loving acceptance and peace. Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 4 – March 30, 2022 – Prayers for Children

“Then children were brought to Jesus that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” And he laid his hands on them and went away. (Matthew 19:13–15)

Loving God, We thank you for the gift of children – an amazing blessing from God. As parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, teachers, or mentors in the life of a child, we have the power to make a difference in the world through their precious lives. Whether our children are still in diapers or have already graduated from college, we hold this incredible opportunity to encourage, equip, and cover them in our prayers.

We pray our children would: always know how very much they are loved, come to know Christ as Savior and have a love and desire for God’s Word, grow in the fruit of the Spirit, have kind, loving, and compassionate hearts, walk in humility, and be faithful followers of Christ. We pray God’s protection over them, wisdom and direction in making decisions, and when they encounter various trials and difficult times, when they experience loss and things don’t go their way, that God would teach them greater perseverance. We pray that our children would be worshippers of God, covered in God’s peace and security. Praying that Jesus will call them, and no one will hinder them from coming. In Jesus precious name and for God’s Glory, Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 3 – March 28, 2022 – Family

Sovereign God, I ask You to watch over our Families the ones that You have given us and the ones You created for us. Please, I ask You to give them comfort, strength to overcome the difficulties they may face, safe protection from harm, give them Your grace, forgiveness, and most of all the ‘Unconditional Love’ that You so freely give to each and every one of us as stated in Genesis 5:1 “This is the written account of Adam’s family line. When God created humankind, and made them in the likeness of God.” Amen.

National Day of Prayer Challenge Day 2 – March 28, 2022 – Everyday People

Each one of us as individuals makes up the whole nation, we are all “everyday people!”

Almighty God, Bless all of us and thank You for reminding us we are all “everyday people.” Our nation is a nation of individuals from all walks of life, all shapes and sizes, all colors, all attitudes, all belief’s….. we are all “everyday people.” “The bankers, the bakers, the candlestick makers;” The Leaders, the followers, and All in between. We are all ‘Everyday People.”

Prayers for the ‘each’ and ‘every’ in all of us. Prayers for our abilities to see You in ‘each’ of ‘each other’. Prayers of thanks for a place at Your table, next to one another, loving one another, listening and actually seeing ‘each’ other from ‘each’ others’ point of view. We praise You for the opportunity to worship and pray together as individuals and as a nation in need of Your guidance and presence in all decisions and for the benefit of All of us – “Everyday People.” In the name of Jesus and for God’s Glory, Amen.
